Phlebology (Veins and diseases of veins)
Intended for permanent closure of lower extremity superficial truncal veins, such as the great saphenous vein (GSV), through endovascular embolization with coaptation, the cyanoacrylate glue polymerizes in the vessel into a solid material upon contact with body fluids or tissue. The glue closes the vein, the blood is rerouted naturally through healthy veins in the leg, and the diseased vein eventually collapses.
Vein Sealing with n-Butyl cyanoacrylate adhesives:
After the doctor sterilizes and prepares the site for the procedure by making a nominal incision, a tiny catheter is inserted through the incision and small amount of cyanoacrylate adhesive is injected.
This intense coaptation halts blood flow through the insufficient vein until the implanted adhesive becomes fibrotically encapsulated to establish a durable, chronic occlusion of the treated vein.
Applications of with n-Butyl cyanoacrylate adhesives:
- Embolization polymer indicated for ablation by polymerization of saphenous vein (vena saphena magna, valve saphenous parva) or perforator veins in endovenous treatment of incompetent lower extremity varicose veins.
- Treatment of varicose veins (tributary veins) by ablative polymerization method; small amount of polymer injected endovenously by a butterfly catheter and small injector system.
- Treatment of venous insufficiency using with n-Butyl cyanoacrylate adhesives: indicated for use in the permanent closure of lower extremity superficial truncal veins, such as the great saphenous vein and perforator vein, continuously while applying pressure over the target vein segment automatically.
Applications of Alkoxy cyanoacrylate (ß-Methoxyethyl):
- Elimination of multiple injections of local anesthetic
- Elimination of the need for medication
- Fever potential side effects than with laser and radiofrequency treatments
- Minimally invasive procedure
- Eliminates need for compression stocking
- No risk of burns, skin damage or nerve injury sometimes seen with thermal procedures
The Shelf Life of phlebology cyanoacrylate adhesives is 12 months when stored at 5° to 10°C in unopened container.
Additional specialty monomers for medical applications are available on request.
