n-Butyl cyanoacrylate monomer is the lowest odor liquid cyanoacrylate monomer. n-Butyl cyanoacrylate monomer is hydrophobic and highly reactive. It offers a stronger bond, but the polymer is more rigid than 2-Octyl adhesive, which exhibits weaker bond, but is more flexible. n-Butyl glue also demonstrates higher adhesion, lower odor and faster cure than 2 Octyl cyanoacrylate adhesive. The Butyl esters provide for a stronger but a rigid bond, whereas 2 Octyl glue is often sought for its flexibility characteristics. Due to its excellent tensile strength that forms after polymerization, n-Butyl cyanoacrylate along with 2 Octyl cyanoacrylate, is very effective in closing surgical and wound incision and is highly popular especially when good cosmetic outcome is desired, because the closure is comparable and often times better than and equivalent suture substitute, resulting in the least amount of scarring. Aside from using n-Butyl cyanoacrylate glue for laceration of the skin and in treatment of bleeding from vascular structures, is also used to treat arteriovenous malformations. In gastroenterology, n-Butyl adhesive is used to treat bleeding gastric varices. Veterinaries use n-Butyl glue in wide variety of applications, from closing minor cuts to immediately stopping minor bleeding. Used in false eyelash extension application, n-Butyl cyanoacrylate had found its place in the cosmetic industry. To say that n-Butyl glue application is vast, would be an understatement.

nButyl cyanoacrylate adhesive is soluble in acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, nitromethane and methylene chloride.
